Trades Specialist II KC20 2B (42479) Beaufort

Under direct supervision, helps skilled trades workers perform repairs and maintenance to roads. May perform maintenance tasks requiring a limited degree of professional skill. Performs manual labor using hand tools in the repair and maintenance of roads and bridges including clearing of rights-of-way, ditch cleaning, repairing shoulders, pothole patching, driveway installation, laying sideline/cross line pipe and making base repairs. Removes litter, debris, and dead animals from roadway and right-of-way. This position requires employee to lift heavy objects. Flags and directs traffic in work zones to protect the workers, the public, and equipment.Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor. Assistsin emergency operations when crew is in an On Call status after hours, weekends, and holidays for all road emergencies including inclement weather, snow and ice, or hazardous road conditions and accidents.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
10th grade education; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). (Note): This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver's License are available.
Class A Commercial Driver's License must be attained within six (6 months) of placement in the position.
