OFFICE OF CLIENTS' RIGHTS ADVOCACYDRC has a contract with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), State ofCalifornia, to provide Clients' Rights Advocacy services for clients of each of the 21regional centers located statewide.
That contract funds the Assistant Clients' RightsAdvocate (ACRA) position.
We are a team of zealous advocates and disabilitygeneralists who are building a culture of teamwork and working for a world where alldisabled people have power, are treated with dignity and respect, and make their owndecisions.
PURPOSE OF THE JOBThe ACRA assists and advocates for people with developmental disabilities whoare regional center clients, including people who reside in state developmentalcenters and community facilities.
The ACRA is primarily responsible for clericaland administrative support for the office, which provides information, advice, andrepresentation on a wide range of legal topics impacting people who receiveregional center services.
Examples are special education, Social Security, IHSS,healthcare and insurance, and living in the community.
The ACRA works under the direct supervision of a clients' rights advocate and incollaboration with other OCRA advocates and attorneys in their advocacy andThis position is in a location convenient to the regional center and is eligible for ahybrid schedule working both remotely and in-office.
Currently the office is locatedat 3602 Inland Empire Blvd in Ontario.
The ACRA may work remotely up to threeMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experienceo High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus 1 - 2 years relatedexperience or training.
o Able to communicate fluently and write effectively in Spanish, including theability to interpret and translate.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSo Associate degree in a related field from a two-year college or technicalschool, OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from a four-year college oruniversity, OR equivalent combination of experience and training.
o Able to communicate fluently and write effectively in Spanish, including theability to interpret and translate.
o Knowledge of statewide resources available to people with developmentaldisabilities.
o Experience reviewing medical or educational records.
o Contacts with disability organizations and/or within disability communities.
o Experience with or extensive contacts in ethnic or language distinctcommunities.
o Experience providing training to a diverse range of people.
o Life experience as a person with a disability or direct experience as acaregiver of a person with a disability.
o Proficiency with Windows-based computer applications including MicrosoftOffice and case management software.
o Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively with a variety oforganizations and individuals with diverse perspectives, including peoplewith disabilities, administrators, advocacy groups, and the public, and tomaintain confidentiality in all matters.
BILINGUAL ABILITYCan understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics,including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization.
Can interact with adegree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakersquite possible without strain for either party.
Can produce clear, detailed text on a widerange of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages anddisadvantages of various options.
Can write clear, detailed texts on a variety ofsubjects related to his/her field of interest, synthesizing, and evaluating information andarguments.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
