Position Summary
The Director for Perioperative Services has overall responsibility for the effective administrative and clinical nursing performance of the Beaufort Memorial Hospital's perioperative services, including: the Adult OR, Admissions/Discharge/ Short Stay Unit, the Endoscopy Unit, Pre Admission Testing Unit, and all associated perioperative support services including information and waiting room management, preoperative business support services, Central Sterile Processing, and perioperative informatics. In addition, Director of Perioperative Services has primary liaison responsibility with the Anesthesia and the Surgical Services Clinical Officer to provide strategic and operational leadership for the perioperative services. Develops clearly articulated business plans and strategies in coordination with clinical and administrative resources for the expansion and optimization of Beaufort Memorial Hospital's Perioperative Services. Provides oversight and establishes priorities and financial resources in partnership with the Anesthesia and Surgical Services Clinical Officers.
The Director will develop and oversee departmental cost centers to assure alliance with and adherence to the organization's mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and business strategies. Emphasizing service excellence, patient safety, staff safety, and organizational integration, the Director will lead the department in overall program development and service priorities. The Director will provide leadership for the Perioperative Services unit and departmental activities that promote:
? Effective managing, developing, and evaluating the competence and satisfaction of assigned workforce.
? Effective operational problem solving and communication at all levels.
? Effective interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration and service coordination.
? Effective evaluation of departmental practices, policies, and continuous process improvement.
? Effective planning and evaluation of space, resources, numbers and skills of staff to fulfill mission.
This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION
Ability to obtain a South Carolina License. BSN required; Master's degree required. Current BLS required.
EXPERIENCE
Sufficient previous management experience in a complex perioperative services environment. Successful track record of effective management/leadership and program management skills. Teamwork skills conducive to a collaborative, professional environment. Demonstrated excellent skills in organizational administration, human relations, oral/written communications.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Certification as a Nurse Executive preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
