This position is located in Parris Island, SC.
You must be a US Citizen. Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance. Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation. Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period. This position is a Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP). A pre-appointment physical examination is required.
Operate vehicles (e.g., tractor trailers, trucks, wreckers, etc.) with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of over 32,000 pounds to transport materials.
Operate refueling trucks with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 33,000 pounds to refuel vehicles and equipment in the field.
Control equipment using levers, buttons, pedals, etc., to operate special purpose vehicle (e.g., roll back wrecker, lowboy trailer, large wrecker, etc.).
Maintain trip logs to record time of departures/returns, sequence of stops, trip mileage, and gasoline consumption.
Determine appropriate routes for large and heavy vehicles to ensure roads have carrying capacities to handle vehicle weight.

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.
Selectee must obtain and maintain additional endorsements such as H & N, or X for refueling services on his/her CDL. The refueling certification must be obtained within six months of employment.
Work requires occasional reaching, bending, turning, moving hands/arms/feet/legs to operate the various hand and foot controls. Incumbent may be required to lift heavy chains, bars, hooks, etc., to make couplings between vehicles, frequently handles objects weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally handles objects weighing over 50 pounds.
Most of the work is performed outdoors. Loading and unloading vehicles occasionally exposes the incumbent to inclement weather conditions. Drives in all types of traffic and weather conditions and is exposed to the possibility of a serious accident.
